And here I am restrained by the chains of social injustice.
As though there was ever any other future from which I was destined to be liberated.
I would do almost anything for love
This poem is dedicated to the news makers.
And the history takers.
You’re celebrating colonized diversity
150 ways you deny 300+ years of me.
But I'm the angry drum that will still beat
in 150 lost languages that will still speak.
We can clearly see all the ways that we refuse to try.
The pride that we safe harbour to protect how we all lie.

then mocks us
with unfair trial.
Weary travellers / dusted in confusion
cordoned off / pathway blossoms
into a crowd / excited by expectations
clutching luggage / with trained suspicion
